Flute Feast in France Mini-Course
Elisabeth Hobbs and Paul Edmund-Davies invite you to join them for a fabulous feast of flute playing in the Corbières region of south west France, on an intensive mini-course which will culminate in a very special concert in the 13th century church of the village of Talairan.
In May 2016, Elisabeth and Paul launched their first Flute Feast course in St Pierre-des-Champs, near Carcassonne. Participants enjoyed a week of outstanding musical opportunities, as well as a complete cultural experience of fine food, champagne, and talks on flutes, wine and history. Renowned pianist John Alley, formerly of the London Symphony Orchestra, added his expertise to the mix, coaching, accompanying, and performing - as well as entertaining us all with his musical anecdotes.
Such was the success of this course, we have decided to reunite for a mini-course in October this year. The vineyard of Serres-Mazard has invited Paul, Elisabeth, John, and the Flute Feasters to return to give a fund-raising concert in aid of the preservation of an ancient church within Domaine Serres-Mazard. This invitation was the seed of the October Flute Feast Mini-Course and will be the culmination of the event.
The October course will reprise all the ingredients of the longer May course and is almost fully booked with return participants. There are, however, just TWO places available to new Feasters who would like to have a taste of the Flute Feast experience. Partners are also very welcome and are included in all non-performing activities.
The course fee of £925 (or £1500 for participants bringing a partner) is fully inclusive of:
individual lessons with Paul Edmund-Davies and Elisabeth Hobbs
individual accompaniment sessions with John Alley
all group musical activities (workshops, technique classes, ensemble)
four nights luxury accommodation at La Fargo
all meals including daily gourmet dinners
champagne tastings and talks
airport transfers and other transport during the course
Air travel from Stansted to Carcassonne is available with budget airline Ryanair.
If you would like to taste the Flute Feast experience and join Elisabeth and Paul in October, it is recommended that you apply as soon as possible to secure one of the three remaining places. We hope to see you there!

Read what previous Flute Feasters have said about their experiences on a Flute Feast course with Paul and Elisabeth:
"Wonderful, completely inspirational. Everything felt very encouraging and supportive. I came away feeling that flute players are really lovely people!" (Fiona P.)
“I just wanted you to know that I think this course was the best, your organisation is faultless, the trips are delightful and of course the music tuition is of the highest order. Flute choir was really lovely and the choice of music was a great mix, both fun and a challenge to play.” (Sharron S.)
“I wanted to say thank you again for a truly special and unique week. It's been a long time since I've concentrated so hard on my flute playing. I loved every moment! Thanks to your support and encouragement, I have a renewed determination to improve my tone, technique and musicianship.” (Leena R.)
“Thank you for a truly fabulous week. The teaching was inspirational from you and Paul.” (Ann S.)
“The Flute Feast really was the course that keeps on giving! I am still reflecting on how much I gained from it. In addition to the musical aspects, it was a wonderful holiday in a beautiful place with excellent company and delicious food and wine. I learnt so much about interpreting my pieces, practising, performing, articulation and projection and also made new discoveries about flute making, head joints, lip plates choosing instruments and soldered tone holes. Now that a few weeks have passed, I want you to know that I have thought about the course every day and, when I play, I am trying hard to put all the advice into practice. We Feasters have all been in touch with each other, sharing our memories. Only yesterday I heard from Leena who also said that there hasn’t been a day when she hasn’t thought of France. You gave us so much of yourselves, your experience, advice and individual care in all our lessons, group work and performances and so many goodies including the presents of music and this lovely album which I shall treasure. Once again thank you so much.” (Mary W)
